Because of rainfall in many parts of Karnataka’s district number one Chikkamagaluru valley administration is requesting travelers to postpone their movements beyond August 15 or until further notice.

The rivers Tunga, Bhadra and Hemavathi are flowing at maximum discharge. Mudslides have occurred on routes leading towards various hill stations like Mullayyanagiri besides other areas within Horanadu, Mudigere and Sringeri taluks.
In view of the above situation, she also implored visitors to stay clear off water bodies for now and put off hiking engagements. She ordered proprietors of homestays as well as resorts to stop accepting bookings. Police Department had directed the owners of hotels not to allow anyone who is going hiking alone into the forests they control.
