Chicago shooting bodycam footage: Suspect yelled 'Allahu Akbar' as he shot Jewish man, fired at police in new video
The suspect, 22-year-old Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, allegedly yelled “Allahu Akbar” as he shot a 39-year-old Jewish man in the shoulder.

Newly released bodycam footage shows the intense moments of a shootout between Chicago police and 22-year-old Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, who allegedly shot a Jewish man before turning his gun on officers. The incident, which occurred on October 27 in the West Rogers Park neighborhood, has gained renewed attention with the release of the video.
The suspect, 22-year-old Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, allegedly yelled “Allahu Akbar” as he shot a 39-year-old Jewish man in the shoulder. When paramedics arrived to treat the victim, Abdallahi began firing at the emergency responders, hitting an ambulance. Chicago police officers responded to the attack with a barrage of gunfire, taking Abdallahi down.
Abdallahi was charged with multiple offenses, including six counts of attempted first-degree murder, seven counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, and aggravated battery. Later investigations revealed that Abdallahi targeted the man specifically because of his Jewish faith, prompting the addition of hate crime and terrorism charges.

Abdallahi’s background also raised concerns. He had been encountered by Border Patrol on March 31, 2023, and despite being apprehended, was released due to immigration policies under the Biden administration, according to the Center for Immigration Studies.
On December 1, it was reported that Abdallahi died from an apparent suicide at the Cook County Jail at Cermak Health Services. The investigation into the tragic shooting continues, with authorities working to understand the full scope of the suspect’s motives and actions.
