As more details of Chhaava comes to light, we realize how Laxman Utekar has put in all efforts to make this Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna starrer an epic film. The upcoming historical saga will see the two famous actors as Chhatrapati Sambhaji and his wife Yesubhai, and it will also include the coronation of the king which is a very crucial part of the entire storyline. This looks like an outcome of a planning of a particular event and a large scale production for which a song has been made by AR Rahman exclusively for that purpose.
Indeed, even the music which takes roots on Marathi folk music has been exhaustively worked on. It is said that A R Rahman the music composer has woven these elements into his tracks which were significant features in the setting of dholaki, tuntune type of songs made in that time period. Further, it has been claimed that the song has some inspiration from the great poi form of Marathi which was made in praise of kings of the time. A source was cited in Mid-day that corroborated these facts and said, ‘Vijay Ganguly who had earlier choreographed the songs for Stree 2,had made it very grand requiring a crowd of about over 1500 people. A pompous atmosphere covered the entire city of Raigad that was shown to have gone out for Sambhaji’s coronation. It starts from a scene where Vicky’s character is also shown to take part in the rituals along with his subjects rejoicing and later on, he and Rashmika are seen dancing and feasting. This is the only dance number in the film with the remaining ones executed in between other events, where it all fits in the backdrop rather than the front.”
Elaborating on the track of the coronation, we hear that this will also have 700 dancers performing as a background and was filmed against a set which was designed to resemble the Raigad Fort in Maharashtra where the team was filming for a period of 4 days.
“The official coronation had taken place on January 16, 1681, at the Raigad fort. In the research stage of Chhaava, it came to light that one of the London papers had even printed an article inform portraying how grand the occasion of the coronation was. This helped the director to visualize the scene well. In the song, Vicky’s Sambhaji will be performing the yagna and the janeu while his wife Yesubai performs the Rajabhishek and aarti. `The much awaited moment of the king ascending the throne is also capturedamidst the celebrations by the kingdom’ the source said.”
Starring Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb, Chhaava is a historical drama which is based on a novel of same title written by Shivaji Sawant and is set in 17th Century India. It will hit the theatres on December 6.
