It is reported that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested 43 suspects involved in cybercrime who ran a call centre in Gurugram with a claim of solving computer related issues, targeting foreigners.
They said the CBI also raided Innocent Technology (OPC) Pvt Ltd office operating from DLF Cyber City, Gurugram where several agents were found to be on live calls to defraud foreigners.
“Searches were conducted at seven locations in Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida. It emerged that there are several transnational cyber-enabled financial crimes within this network coordinated across distributed centres mostly directed from a Call Centre Operating from DLF Cyber City, Gurugram. So far 43 accused have been arrested,” said CBI spokesmen.
Additionally, the CBI is also working closely with INTERPOL so as to reach out for FBI and other law enforcement agencies across several nations for follow up actions.
According to the agency, those targeted downloaded bad softwares which would leave their computers blocked as intended victims.
“The victims were subsequently induced to make payments for restoration of their system. It is revealed that proceeds of crime were channelized from multiple countries to Hong Kong,” the agency said.
