From the beginning of July 17, 2024, landslides on Shiradi Ghat stretch of NH 75 in Karnataka’s Hassan district have affected vehicular movements along Bengaluru Mangaluru highway.
Late night on July 17-18 a car full of passengers narrowly avoided being buried under a mud flow that fell on Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway 75 (NH-75). After landslide occurred near Doddathappale village on Shiradi Ghat stretch of NH 75 their vehicle got buried under mud. After all local people rescued the passengers.
Heavy rains in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district of Karnataka have led to numerous reports about landslides which were experienced along Shiradi Ghat stretch. Landslides turned out to be responsible for disruption of road traffic across the region. At this time many vehicles were seen piled up at different sections of the road. The local police were diverting motorists through other routes.
Some senior officials arrived at the scene.
