For almost a decade, the suspect had been assaulting residents in the city of Azusa near Los Angeles; this is according to US police who arrested an 81-year-old man who harassed southern California residents using a slingshot and will be presented before court on Tuesday.
A press release from Azusa City Police said: “Detectives have uncovered that over a period of approximately nine to ten years there has been a serial slingshot shooter victimizing scores of city dwellers.” Authorities reported no injuries.
Malicious mischief
According to law enforcement, that individual used his weapon to vandalize windows and windshields by breaking them. The suspect was also throwing ball bearings at people in the area. Officers discovered a slingshot and some ball bearings when they searched his residence.
Most of those balls were fired from the defendant’s backyard, Lt.Bushey explained. According to SCNG he said, “I do not think there is any motivation other than malicious mischief”.
