On Thursday (August 22, 2024), the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged protests across Telangana demanding that all farmers be given a crop loan waiver to the extent of up to ₹2 lakh of his/her outstanding debt in banks called ‘Rythu Nirasana Deeksha’.
During a protest at Chevella in Rangareddy district with MLAs P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, D. Sudheer Reddy, Md. Mahamood Ali among others; K.T.Rama Rao, the party’s working president reminded Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy about how he had promised to sign his first file without delay after getting into office regarding a loan waiver document for writing off all debts upto ₹2 lakh per farmer and even invoked AICC leader Sonia Gandhi’s name as guarantee.
This forced him to quickly begin thinking about cheating farmers when he failed to find any hidden treasure inside the state’s secretariat building. The first thing was that it would be based on a sum of ₹31k crores if the central bank gave him anything less than 40 billion rupees which was told by lenders after briefing them on it according to some reports from which this figure apparently stems.. He kept repeating himself during those Lok Sabha elections-2024 wherever he goes using Gods who are said to have blessed him along his way.
Only ₹26k crores were provided for this purpose in budgetary allocations later during that year while at implementation stage there just happened be around ₹17,900 crore being adjusted against farm loans accounts of those farmers , Rama Rao’s statement informed reporters . He demanded that Government should implement complete waiver irrespective of any conditions before Assembly elections held in 2023-24.
He also directed the party members to visit every village and collect information regarding those farmers whose loans had been cleared through these waivers as well as ensure they fight hard enough till each one out 7 million peasants within this region will receive relief amounting two lacs rupees per person.
At Alair in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, senior Leader of BRS T. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress party had straight away cheated the farmers by making promises to give every farmer upto ₹2 lakh in loan waiver but only gave it to a few. In Jangaon he added as per Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao’s statement, 49 lakh farmers were given loans waiver out of which 22 lakh were benefited from it.
Earlier on Thursday morning at Yadagirigutta, BRS leaders led by Mr. Harish Rao prayed for all farmers to benefit from debt relief measures.
Condemnation of attack on Women Journalists

Similarly, they also expressed deep concern over attack made against former MLA G.Kishore Kumar at Tungaturthy during a peaceful protest concerning loan waiver policy implementation.
