The chief minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy and his cabinet colleague Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy visited Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA from Banswada, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, at his residence and asked him to join the party.
Afterwards, MLA Srinivas Reddy told reporters that he had accepted the invitation to join Congress. He said that after Mr. Revanth Reddy became a Chief Minister he observed closely what was going on and praised him for farmer-oriented policies saying “Since I am hailing from farmers family and realizing the commitment of the government ,I have opted to come in congress,”he added.
In 2018-2023 BRS Government Speaker and 2014-2018 Agriculture Minister is talking about his decision joining congress because there are many reasons according to him when he joined Telugu Desam Party (TDP), now Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) from TDP a few years ago, starting by pointing out that he began with Congress in terms of political career as well.
Political career
He started politics in 1976 with Congress for which party he was active until 1984 before moving on to TDP where he served until 1994. In Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet during combined Andhra Pradesh era, he held various portfolios like Mines & Geology as well as Panchayat Raj.
In 2011, while still being an elected TDP member of Andhra Pradesh Assembley but at the peak of telangana movement; so far BansaWada Constituency has elected him during following years:1994, 1999, 2009, 2014-2023.
Fourth BRS MLA to join Congress
Danam Nagender,Tellam Venkat Rao,Kadiyam Srihari are the three other BRS MLAs who joined Congress from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
On the other hand, Danam N, Khairatabad MLA who moved to congress during parliament elections from B.R.S says that approx 20 BRS MLAs are expected to join Congress. Already all the Banjara hills legislators of Bharat Rashtra Samiti are likely to make their way to All India Congress Party in days.
Revanth welcomes Pocharam Srinivas Reddy
Consequently, the Chief Minister Mr. Revanth Reddy said that he invited Mr. Srinivas Reddy as a way of rebuilding Telangana which was destroyed by BRS for the last ten years. Broke down with pro-farmer policies of Telangana government and decided to join Congress,” joining his party impressed by pro-farmer policies of Telangana.” The CM added that this would be done respecting his position due to his seniority; there is also talk that he will bring him into his cabinet soon.
