The wonderful subcontinental musical, Taal (1999), which celebrated its 25th anniversary on August 13, this year. Not only are the actors Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Akshaye Khanna appreciated for all their performances but also the film is known for its grandeur and action and romance, but most importantly the music composed by A R Rahman. The film and its music being extra-ordinary attachment to the audience, the people behind the film have organized a major event in order to commemorate this milestone.
Bollywood Hungama has found out that a special screening of the movie will be done in the film city which is Mumbai to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the movie. Also, it was noted that popular radio station Radio Nasha has taken the charge to arrange the screening at a multi cinema theatre in Mumbai on 20th of September, Friday.
A source informed Bollywood Hungama: “Anil Kapoor, A R Rahman, Subhash Ghai and Shiamak Davar are going to be there for sure. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, however, and Akshaye Khanna are still hanging on to the confirmation. Other important members of the cast of the film will also receive an invite. Apart from the core team of the film, the fans will also get to be a part of this momentous occasion as they will have the opportunity to win the tickets of the premiere.”
The source continued, “As it happens with the screenings of Radio Nasha, the cast and crew members will be recognized and will be requested to reminisce and share interesting tidbits. Mr Ghai is quite open and loves to talk about his own experiences which are rare. Anil Kapoor who enjoyed a great appreciation for his performance in the film, certainly is likely to bring in some kind of spice with the questions directed at him. Coming of A R Rahman will lift the function several levels up. Last but in no ways the least, Shaimak Davar who became a household with this film along with Dil To Pagal Hai will also be walking down the memory lane.”
Taal, on this occasion, will be also back in re-release in cinemas the length and breadth of the country on Friday, September 20. Though this news was broken two weeks back by Bollywood Hungama, it was one of the first ones to break this news.
A movie insider had this to say, “Taal is a film that garb the viewer’s attention. There is a class which did not exist or was too young when Taal was released. They will get to experience the movie with its beautiful songs that are nicely shot in theatres which we know is going to be an experience of a lifetime.” Radio Nasha has conducted quite a few of the exhibitions of important movies of the past. What is at the forefront of their memory is when Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994) was screened on its 25th anniversary in 2019. People, Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, director Sooraj Barjatya, and many others were present.
At the age of 2022, Radio Nasha arranged a viewing of the picture Gupt (1994) on the occasion of its 25th anniversary, on July 9 at the Metro Inox Cinema with the locked-in cast and crew. Bobby Deol made the outing memorable when he danced to his entry song ‘Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela’ when it was shown onscreen at an evening function organized for this purpose. A year back the guests saw the special screening of Khalnayak (1994) which was to celebrate its 30th anniversary on September 4 and in attendance was a certain Mr. Sanjay Dutt.
