June will go out with a bang, as the month ends and Kalki 2898 AD comes out. It has a thrilling star cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. At the same time it is set in future thus promising visual spectacle. According to Bollywood Hungama, just a week before its release, Censor process of this film is through.
Kalki 2898 AD’s Telugu version was given a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Hyderabad office. Thankfully, no major cuts were asked by the Examining Committee. Prior to movie starting it asked the makers to insert a disclaimer via voice over that this is fictional content. Moreover, the disclaimer adds that there are some cinematic liberties taken and they don’t mean any disrespect towards religion. Further addition of ‘2898 AD’ as suggested in place of original text ‘6000 years after Mahabharata’. Finally, while referring to Kaal Bhairava, word ‘Veedi’ was muted.
After these changes were made today i.e., 20th june CBFC handed over the certificate to the makers of Kalki 2898 AD. According to the certificate information about length is mentioned as 180.56 minutes only. In other words, duration for Kalki 2898 AD runs into 3 hours 00 minutes 56 seconds .
This actually makes Kalki 2898 AD Prabas’s longest film ever. Adipurush his release in year 2023 had a duration close at hand with 179 minutes. Meanwhile Salaar was 175 minutes long. Radhe Shyam which was released in 2022 happened to be among his shortest films having been timed at just 138 minutes. While Saaho lasted 171 minutes, Baahubali and Baahubali 2 had lengths of 159 and 168 minutes respectively.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD will be out in cinema screens globally on June 27.
