A day prior, PVR Inox stated that it will be organizing a film festival in some of their properties across various cities to pay tribute to superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan’s silver jubilee. At this juncture, the film got the viewers animated and also did made them think on which features from Kareena’s exceptional career would be screened in this film festival. This afternoon, however, PVR Inox has finally released the list of the 5 movies that will be screened in the program. In what is a welcome surprise, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’s (2001) extend at the very least. The film is remembered for Poo’s amazing role played by Kareena amongst other details. It was also a film that contributed to her stardom.
Such a film was also very highly awaited by the audience for its rerelease. Karan Johar, the Director of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, said at the trailer launch of Bad Newz earlier this year that a classic of his will be premiering on its 25 year anniversary in December 2024. Here her popular classic was due to make a leap previously set. Apart from Kareena, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Jaya Bachchan were also in the cast.
In the same year, as Asoka, more recently SRK and Kareena Kapoor were seen in this similar period drama. However, the movie was not particularly successful on the commercial side, even though, to this day. It is remembered for some songs and the romantic relationships between the actors. The film in effect saw a fresh wave, especially on social media platforms like Tiktok and Instagram with dusky-skinned girls across the globe dressing up as Kareena from the ‘Asoka’ film. This increased the film’s aesthetics more and more.
It has been that Kareena does have plans to re-release the evergreen film Jab We Met (2007) soon. Sparrow MD (2015) is the other two of the three present films on the list. Such films include Chokher Bali (2003) and Omkara (2006). Both these films were fairly well received and showcased the leading lady in a brilliant light.
This week-long film festival will be held over 30 cinemas spread in 15 towns. Starting September 20, 2024 to September 27, 2024. Tomorrow, on September 18, Kareena will attend a press conference in PVR Lido Mumbai to speak about this festival. Her film even omits the 27th of September, the date of the latest release of her film Satyam Murthy.
