There is an upcoming movie called Deadpool & Wolverine which will be released on July 26. Last week, the producers enabled the pre-booking for two weeks ahead of its release and they have found a lot of encouragement from these responses.
BREAKING: Deadpool & Wolverine has sold about 37000 tickets in PVR, Inox, Cinepolis; ready to challenge Oppenheimer day one collection
Based on data collected by Bollywood Hungama as of Monday, July 15th, Deadpool & Wolverine has sold close to 37k tickets for first day across the three national chains – PVR, Inox and Cinepolis. The cinemas of both PVR and Inox sold approximately thirty thousand tickets each while the balance was offloaded in the Cinepolis halls. This is very encouraging especially eleven days before its release. The ticket sales are increasing everyday.
Last year at this time Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One had around twenty-eight thousand tickets sold in the three national chains six days prior to release. On July 17th Oppenheimer had reached ninety thousand tickets with their sale increasing by two lakh only on release day i.e. July 21st, 2023. Yesterday’s largest Hollywood opening Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire had done fifty thousand tickets whereas it did ninety-six thousand during the morning shows on the day of its release. All these films opened with more than Rs 10crs each. The opening collections were over Rs 12crs for all movies mentioned above except Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire which opened with Rs 12.60 crs and Oppenheimer whose opening was estimated at Rs 14.45 crs.
As a result it is expected that even Deadpool & Wolverine would open in double digits numbers too. Then we’ll see if it can surpass what Oppneheimer made on its first-day earnings or not but things will be clearer next week.
Besides, the blockbusters have had their ticket prices in their favour as of now they are lower compared to Oppenheimer. Christopher Nolan made headlines when his IMAX tickets at PVR IMAX, Lower Parel Mumbai’s recliner class went for a record Rs 2450. The most expensive ticket at the same theater for Deadpool & Wolverine is currently being sold at Rs 1900.
What is also significant about Deadpool and Wolverine is that it is an ‘A’ rated film and still there will be huge collections. This will make it the most successful adult Hollywood opener in India (ever).
These ticket sales have really cheered up things especially after the poor collections seen last time with Hindustani 2 and Sarfira. Meanwhile out this week is Bad Newz which along with Deadpool & Wolverine will change the fortunes of cinemas.
