At Penha Cemetery, Thalita Valente Machado was seen leaving after burying her husband Danilo Santos Romano in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Monday, Aug. 12, 2024. On August 9th the plane crashed behind a home in Vinhedo City and Mr. Romano took charge of it as its pilot.
The first to be buried among 62 people who died during the plane crash last week in Brazil was a pilot named Danilo Santos Romano whose were laid down on Monday (August 12, 2024) in Sao Paulo as investigation by authorities into what caused the accident goes on.
The hearse bearing Danilo Santos Romano’s casket moved through the streets of Penha which is located at the eastern part of Sao Paolo before heading to its burial place beneath his flat.
He was only thirty five years old when he died but still family members walked behind his vehicle while others like shop owners who were aware that they would never see him again sighed impassively along the side-walks. He was known as “Romano” for shorter version.
Moura Clesio one of the murmuring merchants once met a same man two years ago.
“He used to live abroad from here when he was working with foreign companies but all this time remained humble person”. Moura continued, “We often spoke about football and how he really wished for a son to take along with him inside any stadium someday; Danilo was very alive.” There have been no findings as to why it happened yet worldwide people are still left horrified after an incident that occurred on Friday (August 9, 2024). Fifty-eight passengers perished alongside four members of staff. The film capturing an aircraft falling while spinning in a horizontal manner astounded worldwide viewership but there is still no outcome resulting from an inquiry about what caused such tragedy.
Certain specialists believe that heavy icing could have disabled the wings so that the pilots could no longer master the situation, however on August 9th (2024), airports minister Silvio Costa Filho addressed journalists saying that neither Romano nor his co-pilot mentioned any ice accumulation problems which would have made them seek an emergency landing.
They were in a plane crash with ATR72 twin-engine turboprop operated by Voe Pass going to Guarulhos International Airport but it ended up crashing at Vinhedo, a nearby city.
According to the Parami airline’s statement, Voepass hired Romano as a copilot in November 2022 and he just completed his first full year as a captain. Besides, the same source revealed that all of 5202 flight hours he had accumulated during his career with this company was spent behind controls of ATRs since this airplane is currently owned by this firm only.
Though she did not speak to reporters gathered outside of her husband’s funeral service, Romano’s widow Thalita Valente Machado handed them a letter naming people and bodies whose aid she appreciated.
A letter written by his widow read “We are grateful forever to Humberto de Campos Alencar e Silva for fighting in Danilo’s team,” “I am sure they tried their best and died like heroes.” Following her wake service at one basilica on Monday (August 12, 2024), will be Danilo Santos Romano’s burial. One of his idols -an ex-goalkeeper for Brazil national football squad and World Cup champion Marcos-was present there.
According to two friends of Romano who were speaking to the Parami during the ceremony his 30 year old widow kept saying “I lost a part of myself.” “Romano was the first body to be released by Sao Paulo’s morgue after the crash. The same day, Friday (2024) evening, the morgue asked that bodies be brought in with patients’ records like X-ray and dental scans for their identification. As at Monday night, forensic experts had identified 17 bodies and returned eight to victims’ relatives,” stated Sao Paolo state government.
Meanwhile, in Cascavel – the city that served as an origin of doomed flight- more than ten households are waiting for remains of their beloved ones. Mayor Leonardo Paranhos announced via his social media handles that if anyone wishes to hold a collective vigil; this conference centre shall be made available by the city.
“We are still waiting for information from Sao Paulo’s morgue which is yet to complete working on identifying all bodies and contacting families,” Paranhos said. “Voepass will be responsible for sending the remains to their destinations.” Authorities have retrieved both flight data recorders – one containing voice recordings in cockpit while other recording flight performance parameter- which are crucial in establishing what went wrong. These are currently under investigation by Brazil’s air force at its lab located in Brasilia capital city with a preliminary report due within 30 days according to Costa Filho, Minister of Aviation. He also added that another criminal case was being investigated by them.
“Through separate accounts, they said Voepass and French-Italian plane maker ATR were advancing investigations on the matter,” they said.
