According to the police, on Wednesday a fellow employee killed three high school workers before attempting suicide in northwestern Bosnia.
No students were present at the time of the incident as it happened at around 10.00 am local time (0800 GMT) during a meeting to gear up teachers for the forthcoming year of school, Sanski Most reported.
“A military weapon, an automatic gun was used by this man who killed three colleagues and attempted to take his own life” said Adnan Beganovic, spokesperson for the regional police service, on national radio.
He added that attacker was critically injured and taken to Banja Luka hospital which is situated in northern part of the entity.
Local press reports indicate that there is no known reason why he carried out such an action but other sources say he was facing disciplinary action in his workplace.
In the last shooting involving schools that took place in Europe’s Balkan region a teenager from Belgrade shot dead nine classmates plus another ten people in May 2023.
