Makers of Hamare Baarah, known for their daring approach and an intelligent storyline, are in a fix after getting into trouble. The much awaited release of Annu Kapoor, Manoj Joshi and Paritosh Tripathi starrer has hit a major roadblock as the Bombay High Court stayed the release two days before its planned release on June 7th, extending the same till June 14th. This sudden turn of events have affected the film’s premiere which was expected to take place this week leaving makers in dilemma.
The Bombay High Court stays releasing Hamare Baarah two days before the film is released.
This legal barrier came about due to a petition filed by activists from one specific religion at Mumbai High court opposing the release of the movie. However, Producers Birender Bhagat and Ravi S Gupta feel that there is something fishy with regards to imposing stay especially when it had already been certified by censors. According to Mr Bhagat in a recent statement given it “Our film has received a certificate from censor board. It is set for release on this Friday. We’ve put crores of our hard-earned money in making this film; we risked our entire life savings doing nothing else but made it with great difficulty. We are shocked and disappointed since a stay has been imposed on our film without even watching it.”
In fact, they were expecting issues and actually made efforts to make sure everything went well during its release. Earlier this week, director of the movie along with its producers met Maharashtra CM Shri Eknath Shinde to thank him for providing safety measures including police protection just ahead of its launch date. Nevertheless, despite all efforts taken towards ensuring smoothness upon its release; this latest legal development dampened all.
Hamare Baarah has caused heated discussions due to depicting a rarely discussed theme like overpopulation.
