On October 18, 2024, Khosla Ka Ghosla (KKG) returns to the big screen exactly after 18 years and the film’s fans are overwhelmed. It was further a path breaking cinema at its release setting a new trend for films which are based on real situations with humour that is not slapstick. All the materials presented in the film were very well received by the population of India and are present in memes, a comedian’s speech or daily chatter. Khosla Ka Ghosla was made under Tandav Film Entertainment Pvt Ltd, features direction by Dibakar Banerjee, and creative production by Jaideep Sahni.
The plot of the movie follows Kamal Khosla who finds his property in the hands of a gangster called Khurana. Khosla’s son Cherry, along with his friends, devises a plan to try and help them as the son seeks to give back the land.
So it is understandable as Anupam Kher, who played Khosla sahab in the movie, showed excitement regarding its re-release by saying, “It is such a great feeling to know KKG is releasing again. It has become a cult movie. Wherever I go, I hear people discussing Khosla ka Ghosla and its dialogues are put as memes. I am happy that this film is being re-released and that the people will be entertained once again by it. Although a new generation will also appreciate the film’s charm.” On similar lines, Ranvir Shorey said, “I cannot believe that almost 18 years after the release of Khosla ka Ghosla, there is plans for its re-release. I know that the first time it came out, the producers found it tough because it was not a commercial film and getting a release was rather difficult. However, this time, especially with the advance screening of the film, the film has the weight of its past thus it is very interesting. I am very happy that people of completely new generation would come to see Khosla ka Ghosla on the large screen and I hope everyone runs to see it again.”
Raaj Hiremath, the Director & Ceo at Tandav Film Entertainment Pvt Ltd, applies, “Khosla Ka Ghosla is back again in theatres aux encore the demand from the public.! The movie KKG ever had the highest viewership on television about 3 or 4 years back..! Now we wish screen lovers to view it with Families & Friends and not just alone & restricted to female viewers only! The message is Bar Bar Dekho Hazaar Bar Dekho #Cult Khosla Ka Ghosla…!!”
Savitaraj Hiremath, one of the film’s producers, bemused by the strategies employed to stamp the films back in the day, states that, “Re-releasing it is exciting and brings back some good old memories as I think remember how I was all happy starting off thinking how easy the whole process was and then how I was saddened to find how hard it was to actually release the film. No distributor was interested in picking the film but to our happiness when it was finally released, it had become a cult film and was a superhit overnight..!! It has been said to be the best work of Jaideep Sahni and Dibakar Banerjee’s career that outlasted the test of time, and its dialogues and scenes are already viral. I don’t think one day passes that lets me live in peace without the reference of even a single word of the movie.
Everyone participated and their art was great, including any and all family members and our great cast of the film: Anupama Kher, Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey, Tara Sharma & Parvin Dabas. ‘Having made and let out a film like this one is always going to be in my life, a great achievement.’” Appearing in such a progressive film as Khosla Ka Ghosla, makes me feel thankful on all levels and above all, myself. There was so much joy in the movie when it was shot, and it seems as if even after 18 years, the charm of the film has not faded out and people still have nostalgia and rush to watch the film – that’s its everlasting quality.
Parvin Dabas said, “To put it plainly, land grabbing is an evil that to some degree every landowner, great or small, has encountered. I’m so happy that it’s going to be back in theaters, and of course, a piece of me will always remain with our fabulous KKG cast, crew, and captains!”
