“If there is a face of hypocrisy in this country, it is Kejriwal. If there is a face of U-turn and immoral politics, it is Kejriwal,” Surya said.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Tejasvi Suriya on Sunday called Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a “poster child of corruption”, saying he had no moral right to comment on corruption or transparency. The Bharatiya Janata Party chief was participating in the roadshow of Praveen Khandelwal, the BJP’s Chandni Chowk candidate.
“Do you really think Kejriwal still has credibility? He has made U-turns many times in his political career. Many young people like us who participated in the Anna Hazare movement in 2013 thought it was a A non-political anti-corruption campaign,” said the Bengaluru South MP.
“From then until now, Kejriwal has deceived everyone who believed in the ideas he proposed. He has worked with Lalu Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav… Thackeray and others he had openly criticized formed alliances.
Suriya, who was renominated by the BJP from Bengaluru South, said Kejriwal had promised the people transparent and clean governance but was now in jail and facing serious charges. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case related to the excise policy scam, was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on Friday.
Surya said, “If there is a face of hypocrisy in this country, it is Kejriwal. If there is a face of U-turn and immoral politics, it is Kejriwal. This kind of double standards, people across the country It’s all clear. On June 4, the BJP will achieve a landslide victory in all seven seats in Delhi.
The BJP leader also claimed that Kejwal had no moral right to comment on anything even remotely related to corruption or transparency. Surya said he was the “poster child of corruption” in the country.
“I was a lawyer and practiced in civil and criminal courts. In my entire experience as a practicing lawyer, I have never seen any court issue a bail order with an expiry date attached,” he said.
“A condition for obtaining a bail order is that you must cooperate with the investigation. There is no date in any bail order that requires the defendant to surrender again,” he added.
This is not even a full bail order. The BJP leader claimed that, therefore, even the Supreme Court prima facie believed that Kejriwal was involved in corrupt practices. Polling for seven seats in Delhi will be held on May 25 in the sixth phase of the seven-phase election.
