In Patna on Monday (September 9, 2024), another Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) official aged 55 years was gunned down in the Patna City area of Mangal Talab by three bike-borne criminals.
The deceased has been identified as Shyam Sundar alias Munna Sharma who was the Mandal President of BJPs Patna City Chowk. The shooting of the BJP leader was also filmed in the editing room through the peep hole where it took place. The video highlighted a thief riding a bike to the place where the deceased was seated and firing at him before quickly escaping on the bike.
Sharma’s family members said he had stepped outside to search for an auto when two criminals shot him and took his mobile. It was morning walkers who first saw the dead body (or the corpse) on the road and then called up the police.
His relatives reached the place before the police did and transported him to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital but he was pronounced dead by the doctor on the spot.
Subsequently, the police also arrived at the hospital, and they surrendered the corpse to NMCH for a postmortem. The team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was also called to the crime scene.
“Approximately at 6:15 a.m in the morning, we received information that an individual named Munna Sharma had been shot by criminals in front of City Pul Restaurant. It was his family that took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. CCTV footage from the site is being reviewed and further action is being taken,” Shashi Kumar Rana, SHO, Chowk Police Station, Patna City told the media.
No arrests have so far been made in terms of the case and active searches are ongoing to apprehend the targets.
One of the relatives of the deceased had stated that Sharma had a silver chain around his neck, but the killers didn’t take the chain or any cash from his wallet.
But as is evident in the video footage, the chain snatcher did manage to grab hold of the chain of the gold chain wearer but only succeeded in yanking the gold chain without its owner.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav posted CCTV footage and message against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar regarding the incident on social media platform X.
“Crime is nurtured within the limits of law and order in Bihar. The offenders are now killing people, anytime anywhere and flee away. The offenders in the video shown have shot a BJP leader and are running away. NDA leaders cannot understand the rising power of crime. We have the CM busy and all worn out managing the administration here and there.” Mr. Yadav wrote in the post.
Here and there in his indirect reference to Bihar CM as, Mr. Kumar had three days back said in the presence of BJP national president J.P, Nadda ‘ab idhar udhar nahi jayenge, do baar galit kiya maine unke saath ja ke (I will not go here and there, made mistake twice by going with them, recently read RJD classroom).
