The January 20, 2024, Bhoomi Pujon ceremony for the instalment of Telangana Talli Cameron statue at Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana State secretariat Hyderabad was conducted by CM A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday (28-Aug-2024). This particular statute will be unveiled on the 9th of December, 2024, which will be the date of the first proclamation concerning the structure of the new state Telangana made in the year 2009.
Former Prime Minister P Reddy unveiled Anna’s statue as a tribute on the occasion of the 80th birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister that day and then proceeded to announce the statue installation on August 20,2024. Earlier, there was a build-up to the controversy of the statue of Rajiv Gandhi that was erected opposite the Secretariat.
BRS condemns the construction of Rajiv Gandhi’s statue directly facing Secretariat
Opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) opposed the placement of a Rajiv Gandhi statue outside the Secretariat arguing that that particular area had been designated for a statue of Telangana Talli. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has stated in the past that the statue of Rajiv Gandhi would be shifted to a different location once his party was back in power so that the statue of Telangana Talli could replace it.
CM invites to unveil the Telangana Talli statue at Secretariat
BRS leader’s statement came a day after Mr. Reddy’s reaction to BRS’s allegations that it does not bother about the national leaders such as Rajiv Gandhi. Telangana Talli’s statue which was installed in the premises of Kavitha’s sister’s home will be installed in the Secretariat on the 9th of December, he said. He made this announcement a few hours before examining the positions of the Statue at the complex housing the Secretariat.
The Chief Minister seems to be quite insistent on placing the statue within the gates of the Secretariat complex. And so, a place has been selected immediately in front of the Secretariat structure so that before entering the complex both the general public and government employees will first see Telangana Talli. On Wednesday, the group also poured the first concrete. The foundation stone for the statue was laid on Wednesday. Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and others were present on the occasion.
