NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on June 10 exhorted his party workers to be ready for the Maharashtra Assembly elections due later this year and claimed the power of the state will be in their hands after the polls.
He was addressing the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) workers as the party celebrated its 25th foundation day at its office in Pune, days after his outfit won 8 out of 10 Lok Sabha seats it contested from Maharashtra as part of the opposition alliance in the 2024 General Elections.
Mr. Pawar hoisted his party’s flag in the presence of his daughter and Baramati NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, other leaders and workers.
“In last twenty five years our journey was towards spreading our ideology therefore lets take it further together so that even when we are gone it can continue to live because it may die if we do not work hard now. After three months, there are going to be state assembly elections which means we have a duty to ensure this happens since once voting ends you become leaders,” said Sharad Pawar while commemorating National Congress Party’s birthday yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Pawar formed Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) breaking away from Congress Party in 1999.
The NCP split into two factions last July when Ajit Pawar among others joined BJP-Shiv Sena Government in Maharashtra State Assembly.
In February this year, Ajit pawar faction was declared by Election Commission of India as true Nationalist Congress Party with clock symbol being assigned to them.
To participate in any election however; Sharada Prasad had been allotted a new symbol – a man blowing turha.
