Ball Beverage Packaging Pvt Ltd, which provides aluminium cans to big beer and soft drink companies, is going to invest ₹700 crore in Telangana as it looks to expand its business within the state through investments. Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu announced this.
“In addition, I want to assure you that all the necessary support will be provided by the State government and we shall soon employ five hundred individuals,” said the Minister while addressing Company representatives including Ganesan, Head of Corporate Affairs who had called on him. The Ball Beverage Packaging is famous for producing aluminium cans which are used by beer manufacturers, soft drinks makers as well as those in perfume industry.
Packaging using tins made of aluminum will reduce excise duty
According to the minister only 2% of beers packed in Telangana are canned while tins are used in 25% of them packed in Karnataka and Maharashtra. The minister further stated that there needs to be modifications done on existing Excise Policy so as to enhance tin beer packaging in Telangana; he also added that he would consult with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao about this matter.
If 500 ml beer was packed in aluminium tins instead of bottles, then we could reduce excise duty thus enabling the government get an extra ₹285 crores every year,” Mr Sridhar Babu explained.
Coca Cola plant in Peddapalli
The Ball Beverages company can now supply tins even for bottling Coke because Coca Cola company has decided to establish their new bottling unit at Peddapalli district after their talks with the minister during his recent visit at Atlanta Georgia where Coca-Cola company is headquartered.
