Investigators claimed they had detained seventy-two people in relation to violence.

Shops have closed down while connectivity has been terminated in Badlapur. But Railway Police DCP Sudhakar Pathare said that now everything is normal here – “The situation is normal now. Railway movement is also normal. No section has been imposed. Internet services will be suspended for a few days so that rumours do not spread.” Manoj Patil said.

DCP Sudhakar Pathare told Parami on Wednesday that internet services have been shut since yesterday’s protest and subsequent violence. Protestors gathered at the Badlapur railway station were lathi charged by the police after the demonstrators blocked the railway track bringing local trains to a halt. Protestors managed to block a track, which in turn led to 12 mail express trains being diverted and another 30 being partially cancelled.

However, after dispersing the protestors, after ten hours of disruption, the railway began running again late at night. “The track has been cleared and the report will be sent to the railway operations so that we can start running them,” said Government Railway Police (GRP) Commissioner Ravindra Shisve while speaking with reporters. “There was an outrage over alleged sexual assault on two fourth-grade girls in Badlapur Maharashtra’s school attended by one of them.
