Bad Cop: Gulshan Devaiah and Anurag Kashyap take the cop-villain chase a notch higher
The upcoming action drama series Bad Cop will be shown on Disney+ Hotstar. It is a classic police vs villain story with many twists. This is Fremantle India’s first foray into scripted series production in the country. The exclusive release of Hotstar Specials’ Bad Cop will be soon.
This story is about a classic cop versus villain scenario with lots of twists and turns. As well as trying to keep his relationships alive Karan, an intrepid policeman, pursues Kazbe, a villain surpassing him in power and deadliness. Indian version of an intriguing yet quirky world was reimagined by writer Rensil D’Silva so we could have grounded characters brought to life by an ensemble cast featuring Gulshan Devaiah, Harleen Sethi, Saurabh Sachdeva & Anurag Kashyap all under the able direction of Aditya Datt who above all brought his mass action sensibilities to the series. We hope that our excitement proves to be infectious with the audience loving Bad Cop as much as we have loved creating it.”

Anurag Kashyap, discussing his role as a villain, said, “I have made numerous characters that are gory, offbeat, sinister and many more things but would you believe it was hard for me to be one. Kazbe is someone who doesn’t overthink about every step he takes; he just does it. He is an awful, peculiar, wicked and archetypal bad guy. I had to bite into the intricacies of this character and make it my own. Aditya Datt directed it which was an awesome experience while Disney+ Hotstar and Fremantle India were amazing partners.”
Speaking about his role as a cop Gulshan Devaiah mentioned that “I had too much fun doing Bad Cop because it’s an all out masala movie. I’m excited because this is very different from what I usually do. While in another show I played a different cop as Devilal here’s more like massy-entertaining type of cop”. I knew Aditya Datt’s style since we worked together before so he is very straightforward type who wants to create entertaining cool shows for people to enjoy the most. Actually running was tough in action because I did not know how else to challenge myself since am neither used nor built for this kind of body movement overall it was fun working with Fremantle India and Disney+ Hotstar again.” Moreover Anurag directing only my movies so far but then having him on set doing scenes and action with me was enjoyable despite having never thought that I would ever act alongside him. It was such a huge moment for me because I really didn’t expect to be acting beside him at all.” What people will think of my version of filmy cops? And hopefully viewers will also find some entertainment in it therefore am really looking forward to their reactions.”
Bad Cop by Hotstar Specials is directed by Aditya Datt adapted by Rensil D’Silva, with Anurag Kashyap in a role of an eccentric, attractive and lethal villain, Kazbe and Gulshan Devaiah as Karan a fear-inspiring and brave cop; the series also features Harleen Sethi, Saurabh Sachdeva and Aishwarya Sushmita in pivotal roles.
