The Bharatiya Janata Party’s special executive committee meeting held in Bengaluru on 4th July, 2024 was graced by former CMs Jagadish Shettar, D.V. Sadananda Gowda and B.S. Yediyurappa with BJP national general secretary and in-charge of Karnataka Radha Mohan Das Agarwal.
A senior leader speaking to the state executive of the BJP alleged that one year has gone by, the Congress’ popularity is over and if elections are called today, they would win more than one hundred forty seats.
B.S. Yediyurappa a veteran BJP leader then went ahead to declare that within just a year. The ruling Congress which had come into power with a massive majority in Karnataka in May 2023 has lost its fame thus daring Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to dissolve the house and go back to the people for another mandate.
“Let me tell you this; if elections were held today again, we will take back our seats from 140 – 150 in the 224 member Assembly”, said Mr. Yeddyurappa. While addressing a select State executive committee of BJP in Bengaluru on July 4.
“The congress does not have any moral right to remain in power as it has been indulged itself into corruption thereby ignoring its duties of protecting Karnataka interests”, he added
During the recent Lok Sabha polls though congress had 136 MLAs in the assembly but still bjp managed to lead on after getting victories from there candidates out of total assembly segments presented their.
“We had some setback due to certain wrong doings done by ourselves during some Lok Sabha constituencies but people voted mainly against mal-governance and corruption of Congress.” He claimed
He asked his colleagues at party level that MUDA as well as Maharishi Valmiki ST Development Corporation’s financial frauds should be taken up both within the forthcoming legislature session and outside in order to put pressure on the CM to resign. This was presented as a suggestion that party leadership should take a tour of the state as part of the campaign.
BJP State president B. Y. Vijayendra, BJP’s poll in-charge for Karnataka Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, Leader of Opposition R. Ashok, Union Ministers V. Somanna and Shobha Karandlaje, and former CMs Jagadish Shettar and Basavaraj Bommai participated in the meeting.
