Bearing with the delay in completing the Athikadavu-Avinashi Groundwater Recharge project, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that it would take recourse to protests.
G.K. Nagaraj, who is the President of Agriculture Wing of BJP was saying that this project had been laid by the ex-Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
The Project aims at drawing water from Lower Bhavani River and fill up ponds, lakes and water bodies in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode districts. Just before completion at 96%, DMK came to power so out of 4% balance works only 3% were completed.
“The Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on August 25th announced at Gobichettipalayam that it would be completed in a month. And even after two years, DMK Government did not commissioning the project and has been on trail run basis till now. The surplus water will be enough for Bhavani so let’s commence with this scheme,” he said.
On August 3rd Mr. Nagaraj added that on Thiruvachi third pumping station inspections will be done by K. Annamalai who is a BJP State President as well as meeting farmers whose lands were taken away for laying pipelines but are yet to receive compensation.
If DMK Government continues delaying commissioning of this project then BJP has resolved to hold series of demonstrations against such an action.
