On June 13, BJP leader Pema Khandu was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for the third consecutive term.
Mr. Khandu, who is the MLA of Mukto, was administered oath by Governor K.T. Parnaik with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president J.P. Nadda and other leaders present at the ceremony.
Together with Mr. Khandu, eleven other MLAs were also appointed ministers.
According to Election Commission data, BJP returned to power in Arunachal Pradesh for a record third time in row as it obtained majority by winning 10 seats uncontested and another 36 out of the 50 contested in the 60 member Assembly.
Pema khandu designate chief minister is among ten candidates who were unopposed winners; five from National People’s Party (NPP), two from People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA), three from Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and one from Congress. Meanwhile Independent Candidates Wanglam Sawin( Khonsa), Tenzin Nyima Glow (Thrizino-Buragaon) and Laisam Simai(Nampong) won their respective seats
