The preparations for counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha elections in Alappuzha and Mavelikara constituencies were reviewed on Wednesday at a meeting chaired by District Collector Alex Varghese. The votes will be counted on June 4.
Votes cast in the Lok Sabha constituency of Alappuzha will be tallied at St. Joseph’s College for Women, Alappuzha and St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Alappuzha. The counting of votes cast in the Mavelikara Lok Sabha seat will be done inside Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara.
According to officials, after 7 a.m., strong room would be opened followed by counting at 8 a.m., with postal ballots being counted first.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate Vinod Raj, District Police Chief Chaitra Teresa John, Election Deputy Collector G.S. Radhesh and representatives from various political parties among others.
