The Indian actress and filmmaker Aparna Sen has reached a new milestone with the production of Her Indian Summer, an interracial love story set against the backdrop of India’s partition in 1947. The initiative was revealed at a London exhibition that honoured his career and it is a result of collaboration between India and UK.
According to report, Her Indian Summer, which will be produced by Alex Harvey’s Big Bazaar Films of Los Angeles and Aritra Sen of Kolkata-based Aritra Sen, will be visually stunning as well as emotionally charged exploration on love, loss and identity. Commenting about the film for her part, she said “I am excited.” “Her Indian Summer is my story which I envisage to be an Indo-U.K. co-production incorporating some major British and Indian actors,” said Aparna Sen. “It gives me immense pleasure that Alex Harvey and Aritra Sen from Big Bazar Films are taking it forward and hope to start shooting soon.”
“Aritra Sen says – We’re glad that Aparna has agreed to make an original work with us; like her first one it will be an English one.”
Alex Harvey commented saying “She made four films with Satyajit Ray who also became her friend helping her launch her own career for direction.”
This retrospective show initiated by Bengal Heritage Foundation offered a place to commemorate Sen’s rich contribution to film screening. These restored prints included Kunal Kapoor’s presentation of 36 Chowringhee Lane which remains one among many reasons why the director appreciates the restoration work done on this movie since it highlights its visual depth.
