‘He loves me, he loves me not’ is the title of the chapter where Dr. Anthony Fauci wrote about his experience with Donald Trump in his new book. The former medical advisor to the White House who was lambasted by Trump at that time for giving gloomy predictions on Covid pandemic said his interactions with Trump was complex.
When appearing at The Late Show, Dr. Fauci said they clicked well from the start and a sense of understanding used to be there between them. “Afterwards we started to get along really well right off,” I explained in my book because I am unsure about it, whether it was due to two brooklynites, one Queens guy, that really knew each other quite fast early on.” It’s just when he started saying things and continued saying stuff — because he wanted so much for this thing to go away that he began saying incorrect things,” says Anthony Fauci. He revealed this during the show.
“It wasn’t so much as those people who were attacking me thought that it was. “Said Anthony Fauci.”I really respect our country’s President… I had to publicly contradict him because what he was saying wasn’t correct anymore; and once that happened then, both him and particularly mostly his staff – not so much him but his staff – became anathema to me. Persona non grata.”
Fauci’s recent book entitled “On Call: A Doctor’s Journey in Public Service” also has some details about their last conversation with Donald Trump. This happened within a span of 15 minutes amid a raging pandemic shorty after an interview by Anthony Fauci were he made very negative statements.“Tony, I really like you… but what the fuck are you doing? You need always be positive… you just keep dropping bombs on me!” Trump lashed out at him.
