Indian prime minister Narendra Modi poses for a photograph with businessman Mukesh Ambani, his wife Nita Ambani and newlyweds Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant at the latter’s post-wedding ceremony, in Mumbai on July 13, 2024.
According to an official, on July 16 the Mumbai Police arrested an engineer from Gujarat aged 32 after he shared a bomb threat concerning Anant Ambani’s wedding via social media last week.
The accused was Viral Shah of Vadodara, he told them.
“He was caught today from his home in Gujarat by the crime branch of the Mumbai police,” he said.
An X user @ffsfir had put up a potential threat post on Twitter which reads “My mind is showing me so shamelessly that half of Earth will be turned upside down tomorrow if a bomb goes off at Ambani wedding. trillions of dollars in one pin code.”
Following this announcement by the user online, stricter measures were put in place during the wedding.
“The police also began looking into it as a possible threat,” he said.
During investigations, it was discovered that X user was based in Vadodara, prompting the Mumbai Crime Branch to send its team to that city across state lines where they apprehended him; according to him/her (the) suspect (s), however, are currently bringing their captor back to Bombay with them.
On July 12 at a glittering function held at Jio World Convention Centre located in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Anant Ambani married Radhika Merchant who is daughter of pharma tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant.
This mega event saw global celebrities participate along with practically all politicians as well as A-listers from Bollywood and South Indian Film industry; almost all top cricketers of the country were also present at this event.
