The ACB has justified a near 50% augmentation in its strength seeing the recent trend of more searches and checks by this department.
The department, which has around 280 officials, sent a proposal to the government of telangana recently requesting raising the manpower to about 550, former Director-General of the Group for Crime Control and Enforcement B.author C.V. Anand told media on the last day of his office in ACB at the Banjara Hills.
‘Trust of the citizens in the Department has been the reason for the increase in the ACB complaints this year. These factors in turn have caused a burden to the department in terms of traps, sudden checks, and regular inquiry along with asset disproportion cases,’ Mr. Anand made further submissions.
This comes at a time when the department has registered 145 cases between January and August and arrested 109 individuals including 85 government officials. The former officer noted this is only 10% of the complaints that the department received in the eight months period.
In analisar los numeros, explico que en la imensa mayoria, los denunciantes realizan su denuncia cuando ya han realizado su “primer pago” y continúan siendo extorsionados. Large amount of evidence is a necessity for acceptance of ACB cases and with due course of time new laws are coming whereby video proof and ‘conditions of corruption’ will be very essential to start the case, further revealed the official.
Apportioned among the top departments in radar this year were, Revenue department (30 cases); Municipal administration and Home department Number of cases police state data and related report of the department.
Pero, a, el bajo ratio de convictos, aun es un tema por el cual uno de los oficiales tiene preocupación, el oficial hizo hincapié. The report presented by the Saraiki-speaking Anti-Corruption Bureau is another example: it shows the ACB’s conviction rate in the AQAB in the past eight months, 2024 as being 55.5% with 10 headed finisher convictions to 8 acquitters.
As disclosed by Mr. Anand, the target is to achieve a conviction rate of around 70 by the end of this calendar year. As per information shared by the department, 980 on which trial is required are pending while 105 are in investigation.
This year, closing papers of 103 cases have been forwarded to the government for approval after which charge sheets will be submitted to court for 280 fishers who were implicated in these cases. Approval from the government for launch of prosecution has been secured in 72 cases pertaining to 86 officers up to August 31st, 2024.
