In 2018, Mysuru’s Tiger Adventure Foundation organized an all-women trekking expedition to Baradasar Pass in Uttarakhand.
“The Himalayas which is the Indian mountains has been our frequent site for trekking expeditions that we normally undertake as a club. However, in 2018, we organised the most impressive of its kind: an all-women climbing mission to Baradasar Pass in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand,” Solanki explained.
According to D.S.D. Solanki from the Foundation, “Despite being just 27 females aged between 15 and 66 years old whom I took on ‘Nari Shakti’ (Women Power) Expedition to the Himalayan mountains in Uttarakhand for ten days .” “While going for Baradasar Pass with a height of about fifteen thousand one hundred feet above sea level located at Utarkashi district, Uttarakhand.”
The youngest participant was fifteen years old while the oldest was sixty six. The participants were not only from Mysuru but also from neighbouring Madikeri, Hassan, Kanakapura and Bengaluru too. The women were accompanied by five support staff members from the foundation.
Solanki added that “Any time we organize a hiking trip, there are always more women than men who turn up for it. Most times when we go out into expeditions more than half of us are always ladies.”
