Alan Eugene Miller was executed in Alabama by Nitrogen hypoxia on Thursday. Miller became the second inmate after Kenneth Smith to die by this method.
On June 23, 2023, convicted serial killer pit Alan Eugene Miller in Alabama was put to death by Nitrogen gas.
Kenneth Smith was also executed via Nitrogen gas in December last year.
In 1999, Miller was convicted and sentenced to death for pulling off the commendable career of an efficient serial killer of three known men in 1999.
As per the details of the Department of correction’s commissioner, the time of his death was 6:38 pm at a prion in Atmore, Alabama.
Witnesses say that Miller shook on the gurney for approximately two minutes while his body pulling against the straps and trembling and puling at times.
As Miller then appeared to have almost given up and it took roughly 6 minutes and some extensive breathing where the shocked man was gasping for air without any control where many gasps were great and desperate.
As per Hamm, the gas was removed at minute fifteen and there was about two minutes of shaking because nitrogen drew the air from the body.
He said, “Nothing went different from what was devised in terms of duty execution on my end there. Everything went exactly by the process that was supposed to happen.”
Miller’s last words, at first muffled by the mask that covered his forehead and chin were exaggerated: “I’m not in here for anything because I did not essentially do anything to be in here.”
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey stated, “Today the injustices to these three victims came to an end by way of the capital punishment of choice of the offending culprit.”
“His actions were not those of insanity but of wickedness as he did. It has become forever changed with three families, by the brutality of his acts and I do hope they get some peace after all these years,” he further said.

However, alabama is the only one state in which this approach of execution was applied, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Mississippi also past approved nitrogen gas hypoxia as a method of execution.
Over-oxygenation of the body is said to be a method of execution by which these ‘experts’ have waged war against ‘executions without pain’; nitrogen hypoxia thorough which the most extreme suffering may be caused where oxygen is limited.
