Akshay Kumar, the Bollywood superstar, will not be able to attend the much awaited wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant due to his positive COVID-19 test. This is not the first time that Kumar has caught the virus. In April 2021, he tested positive for it and was admitte in a hospital. Another positive test in 2022 made him miss Cannes Film Festival in France.

Feeling Unwell During Promotions
According to an insider who spoke to India Today, for the last two days while on tour for his latest movie Sarfira, Kumar had been feeling unwell. Subsequently he took a test that verified him as a confirmed case of Corona virus disease. Currently, he is under quarantine and observing all required health protocols.
Positive Test on Wedding Day
Kumar received this news about himself being Covid-19 positive on July12th as per reports. Which is also when Ambani-Merchant’s wedding ceremony was held resulting in him missing both wedding rites and final leg of promotions for Sarfira which hits theaters today.
Grand Wedding Festivities
There will be several events during Ambani-Merchant wedding including “Shubh Vivaah” on July 12 followed by “Shubh Aashirwad” on July 13th. Thereafter there will be a grand reception scheduled on July 14 with another planned for July 15.
The star-studded guest list includes famous people like John Cena, Mike Tyson and Jean-Claude Van Damme as well as notable personalities such as Jay Shetty (motivational speaker), Boris Johnson former British Prime Minister Tony Blair Former UK PM, US Secretary of State John Kerry and Stephen Harper Ex Canada PM.
Sarfira Release Unaffected
Despite Kumar’s absence from promotions due to COVID-19, Sarfira premiered in theaters as planned on July 12. This movie is an official adaptation of the successful 2020 Tamil film Soorarai Pottru. Paresh Rawal, Radhika Madan and Suriya (in a cameo role) also star in this Sudha Kongara directed film.
