In 2018, film maker Raj Kumar Gupta had a breakthrough with Raid movie featuring Ajay Devgn which proved to be a critical as well as commercial success. The basis for the film was real life events and it was about an income tax raid conducted by an upright honest officer played by Devgn.
The success of first movie gave way to Raid 2, the second movie in the series also starring Devgn. The creators announced last year that it will hit theaters on November 15th this year. But recently, makers of another Ajay Devgn starrar Singham Again shifted their film to November 1st. The original release date was August 15th.
There were reports earlier this year about Raid 2 being postponed because it seemed unlikely to have two Ajay’s films releasing within just a span of two weeks. However, Raj Kumar Gupta exclusively told Bollywood Hungama that “the film is postponed” and he explains about some possible release dates.
“Raid 2 is happening early next year,” said Gupta. “Producers’ side will give out the exact release date but definitely we are releasing it early next year.”
Saurabh Shukla played the villain in Raid while Riteish Deshmukh will take up that role against Devgn in Raid 2. Interestingly enough , Pill is a recent web series by Gupta where Ritesh plays as a hero fighting corrupt pharma company.
On being asked if directing him for two opposite characters how he felt about that Gupta responded: “More conversation about Raid 2 will happen when promotions begin like what character he is playing but yes it has been a great experience of working with him in Pill and Raid 2.”
