The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand stated that the state agitators have played a major role in the establishment of this state; therefore, to preserve their rights 10% horizontal reservation should be provided.
On Monday (August 19, 2024), the statehood agitators and their dependents met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami who thanked them for passing the bill on 10% job reservations.
The chief minister was visited by the state agitators at Khatima in Uttarakhand on Monday (August 19, 2024). On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that State Government is continuously working so as to fulfill each and every resolution taken in public interest. “In this direction we have fulfilled our promise made to the State Agitators,” CM Dhami said.
Earlier, congratulating the state agitators for putting forth a bill which states that- “The state agitators have contributed a lot to the formation of Uttarakhand state, so to secure their rights, they should get 10% horizontal reservation”. For this purpose a bill was introduce in assembly and passed. Government does what it says. I congratulate all the agitators and their dependents on passage of bill.
According to me, these are struggles and sacrifices done by people like us whom we can never forget about. On August 18th Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) approved a bill that provides for ten percent reservation for government jobs for those involved in statehood agitation through Uttarakhand. This has been a long pending demand of such people here.
