Rupali Ganguly Advocates for Ethical Treatment of Horses
According to Rupali Ganguly, an Indian supporter of People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), there is great concern about the welfare of horses in use as carriage animals. Almost 8 horses have died tragically due to overworking and neglect in Kolkata streets as per reports. These animals experience injuries most times not attended hence abandoned which puts both horses and human beings at great risks.
Investigations Highlighting Animal Welfare Issues
The state of carriage horses in Kolkata has been exposed through investigations done by PETA India together with CAPE Foundation. This revealed that many horses are sickly anaemic, emaciated and chronically underfed thus need urgent action to save them from further suffering.
