Sitaare Zameen Par which stars Aamir Khan has cut short its Delhi schedule due to high cost, Raid 2 moves from Delhi to Lucknow because of rising budgets: Report
In this story, Khan plays a defiant yet benevolent basketball coach. In one of his community service roles, he is entrusted with leading a basketball team for the Special Olympics. Don’t get me wrong – there is nothing usual about them; every member has some kind of learning impairment when it comes to their ability to understand things faster or slower than normal individuals. The film could revolve around the Paralympic Games, an important global event for athletes living with disabilities, according to news from the sets.
But here’s where things take a turn! This shooting will be expensive given that Delhi resides as India’s capital city. For example, forbes.com reported that iconic shoot locations like Rajiv Chowk metro station or international airport have had their permits hiked up tremendously high so there are now certain costs associated with doing business at these places nowadays. As a result of these rising expenses in Delhi therefore, Sitaare Zameen Par has reduced its shooting days in Delhi. Originally planned for 1 month in July, shooting will only take place over an 8-10 day period now because of these increased costs. To keep within budgetary constraints, several scenes set in New Delhi will be filmed elsewhere, like Lucknow or Madhya Pradesh.
Earlier reports mentioned that the actor and his team would be heading to New Delhi for shooting. But there’s a catch! Shooting in New Delhi which is the capital state of India has become expensive. A Hindustan Times report confirmed the high cost for shooting permits at landmarks like Rajiv Chowk metro station and Indira Gandhi International airport. Because of these rising expenses, Sitaare Zameen Par’s Delhi schedule has been significantly reduced. The shoot was originally set for one month in July but now it will only run for 8-10 days. To keep within their budget, some of the shots that were scheduled for Delhi will have to be done in places such as Lucknow or Madhya Pradesh.
According to a source who spoke exclusively with this publication however, the film is extensively shot in Delhi at locations such as Lal Qila (Red Fort), Lodhi Garden, Purani Dilli (Old Delhi) and Tyagraj Stadium among others. “The schedule is fixed for one month from May till June during which time we shall shoot various kids’ Paralympic games,” quoted an insider who went on saying: “It will be shot at different spots in Delhi, including Lal Qila, Lodhi Garden, Purani Dilli, and Tyagraj stadium. It is being shot in various parts of Delhi as they didn’t want all kids travelling to NCR regions.”
Directed by RS Prasanna, the movie began filming early this year February 2024; it is expected to hit cinemas by Christmas.
In another news interestingly Bollywood Hungama had reported a few weeks ago that Ajay Devgn starrer Raid 2 recently wrapped up its final schedule in New Delhi while very intriguingly; Raid 2 started rolling on January 6th this year i.e., on January 6th 2024.The source went on to say, “The makers have planned the shooting in detail. Everything went as per the plan and the shoot concluded within four months.” Apart from Delhi and Lucknow, Raid 2 was also shot in Mumbai and Rajasthan.
On the other hand, according to Hindustan Times, this movie also employed a similar approach for cost cutting. “They were in the city for four days shooting including India Gate and then 47 days in Lucknow. Because of subsidies and quick permissions at least twenty-five films are currently being shot in Lucknow,” an insider commented.
Raj Kumar Gupta directs both Raid and Raid 2. It will be released on the big screen on November 15th this year. Raid 2 is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak and Krishan Kumar. The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series with Panorama Studios as its production house.
