In a very significant announcement, Applause entertainment has revealed that it is working on a new series titled Gandhi. This new series is being brought to life through the eyes of an expert and a Grammy Award Winner A.R. Rahman. It has been informed by the production house that Rahman shall bring his unique genius in this grand narrative centered on the freedom struggle in India, further enhancing the scope of the series.
Sameer Nair, the Managing Director of Applause Entertainment, has spoken about this partnership, stating “Gandhi is not just a miniseries, it is an enigma, a journey that captures the essence of the human spirit. A.R. Rahman’s music will add another layer of emotion and excitement to this epic tale that needs to reach the people all across the globe. More than any praise, I feel this is a special moment in all our creative processes, where with Rahman’s score; we will be making a series which does not only entertains but motivates people as well.”
Sameer Nair does not share with you how much A.R. Rahman enjoyed watching the younger phase of glory in every Gandhi’s depiction and people’s reactions. For instance, every one of his experiments with truth, with life and so many experiments showcase a better version of his body. It is a proud and humbling responsibility for me and Applause Entertainment to be directing this story and to have A.R Rahman working on its music.”
“I am satisfied to have Hansal Mehta amongst us”, shared Hansal Mehta, Director “ Principles of live storytelling used as a template for the miniseries by M K Gandhi, an account that will be continuously adapted to present day. A.R. And it was a dream come true to have Rahman come onboard with us in this quest. His music can turn ordinary storytelling into something completely impactful, and for a project of this magnitude, that carries such a great meaning, we could not fathom better who would be able to convey the complexities and the tender points of not only M.K. Gandhi but the man himself.”
As per the collaboration of Hansal Mehta, and based on Ramachandra Guha’s definitive writings, there has never been such attention to history, emotions and sound in a film.
The music will not only enhance the visuals, but, and more importantly, it will also convey values of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology of truth, love and non-violence, thus forming a dynamic part of the narrative.
