The best-seller ‘Aadujeevitham’ could be attributed to the writer Benyamin where he traced the life of a man trapped in the goat farm with a herd of goats, and lived the life of an animal. But there are some smiles when the Cosmopolitan writer was at the Kalamassery on Tuesday when he came for the auction of a goat.
He was one of the several people who had attended the auction bazaar organized during the Kalamassery Agricultural Festival. The purpose of the auction was to assist the government’s rehabilitation measures for families who have been affected by landslides in Wayanad. The writer had turned up for the purpose of taking part in the literature fest organized as part of the event.
After a competitive session of bidding, the goat was finally sold to a local of Kalamassery called Noushad for ₹13,800. He paid the amount to P. Rajeeve who is the Industries Minister. If he had placed the winning bid which was nearly three times higher than the market value of the goat he won, he returned the goat to the organizers. The goat will be put on auction one more time as part of the fund-raising campaigns aimed at rehabilitation of the victims in Wayanad.
