The parents of Lissel Maria, a nine-year old Keralite girl who was shot in the head during a drive-by shooting in Hackney on May 29th, are afraid that she will never walk or talk properly ever again. At present, she is in a critical condition at the hospital.
Lissel was shot outside a Turkish café called Evin thought to be by rival Turkish gangsters. I.T professionals Ajeesh and Vinya hail from Goturuth, Ernakulum while currently working in United Kingdom. “We are devastated about what has happened, our daughter remains stable but in a critical condition,” they said via Metropolitan Police.
“We did not expect anything harmful to happen on such occasion just for an ice cream but now we can’t say if we need our daughter smart again or whether to wait until she stops moving her mouth. And We want back that child of ours; all wishes are for her full recovery.”
The biker also fired shots at three men aged 37, 42 and 44 who were sitting outside the restaurant. They have been allowed home after being treated for their injuries. The target man is believed to be a member of the Hackney Bombers gang. The Tottenham Turks, another group linked with drugs trading in London, is suspected as behind all this incident.
No arrests have so far been made. In renewed appeal Monday evening this week, detectives released images of a suspect riding a motorbike stolen from Wembley last year.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway leads policing within Hackney and said: “At this time, the potential link to Turkish-originating organised criminal networks has been one of our main lines of enquiry.” He appealed to members of the public as follows: “Search your hearts”, he continued “and ask yourselves do you owe your loyalty to friends or associates even when they cover up an innocent child shot?”
Last week, according to Daily Telegraph, the Tottenham Turks’ boss Izzet Eren was murdered outside a café in Moldova’s capital which is believed to be a revenge attack for this shooting.
Scotland Yard spokesperson stated: “The Metropolitan Police are aware of reports of the death of a 41 year old man in Chisinau. As yet, the Moldovan authorities have not officially confirmed the name of the deceased.”
