In Anaimallur village near Thimiri town in Ranipet, 33 goats were electrocuted after they stepped on a broken live electrical wire across an open pasture.
When P. Sankar, 65 and his son, S. Suresh, 35 decided to let their goats graze en route to that lake, the weather turned out to be so bad with such heavy winds surrounding the village as well. Once there however they drank water from the lake before stepping inadvertently on a snapped live electric wire.
Both of them sat beneath a tree which was located far away from this place but when they hurriedly went there after noticing the wire which had fallen down on the ground and called for help from some other villagers and farmers. The police came as well as officials from Tangedco who isolated power supply of that wire where it had been cut off.
Suresh is employed in Chennai at a private firm having graduated while also assisting his father in rearing goats as reported by police. A case has been lodged with regard to this incident. On their part residents have requested authorities in the district to provide financial aid to Sankar’s because he lost many animals in this way.
