Telangana women IAS officers are set to inspect the Government Residential Welfare Hostels for Girls and would spend a night at the institutions. They would submit a report on improving the educational standards and manage the institutions more effectively. Common diet programme, education standards, infrastructure at the hostels, management of the hostels are some of the aspects they would assess.
Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari said that the first phase of inspections by 29 IAS officers would be completed by January 25. A review meeting would be held on the feedback provided by them.
The government at the beginning of the month issued orders to women officers of All India Services (AIS) to visit the residential schools across the State, stay for night at the institutions during the visits to identify gaps in functioning of the institution.
Following this, the Chief Secretary held a teleconference with officials concerned on Thursday (January 9, 2025). She said that there are a total of 540 girls residentials schools. After the review meeting on the feedback, AIS officials at all levels would take up the visits.
