Prosecutors said that two men, who are linked to the accidental death of a toddler on an overdose of opioids in a New York City daycare centre, have pleaded guilty to drug charges and causing bodily harm.
According to prosecutors, the men have confessed to hiding fentanyl in a Bronx daycare’s playroom floorboards.
The Monday before last Felix Herrera Garcia, aged 35 years plead guilty on three different charges of felony drug trafficking, involving narcotics possession with intent to distribute resulting in serious bodily injury as per prosecutors. On one similar count Parras Paredes also pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal. They both hail from Bronx.
Nicholas Dominici was 22 months old when he died after ingesting fentanyl at Divino Nino daycare in September; however, Narcan saved the lives of three other children during that time following their ingestion with the same substance.
Herrera escaped into Mexico for about two weeks after the overdoses and while there he was arrested. Murder, narcotics possession and assault were among the various accusations leveled against his wife who is allegedly running the day care centre alongside one other person.
According to public records cited by prosecutors in their Court case,( some information redacted) Herrera and Paredes could be sentenced to serve not less than twenty years behind bars.
