According to officials on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at least 10 pilgrims who were returning from the Amarnath yatra got injured when they jumped out of a moving bus in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district after the driver told them that the vehicle’s breaks had failed.
They averred that this has however been stopped by army and police personnel thereby avoiding a likely mishap along Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
The officials stated that the bus had forty passengers who were going back to Hoshiarpur in Punjab; they added that it did not stop at Nachlana near Banihal due to breaks failure.
According to the officials, around ten pilgrims including three women and one child had injuries resulting from jumping out of a moving vehicle while still inside it.
Army, police personnel act swiftly
Army troops and police personnel acted immediately noticing the pilgrims jumping off from a moving vehicle thus stopping it from falling down into a stream by placing stones under its tyres according to them.
Medical assistance was rendered and first aid provided for all those wounded by army’s Quick Reaction Teams with ambulance team on site according to the officials.
