While attending the IIFA 2024 in Abu Dhabi, film director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, shared some startling news – his next film, Zero Se Restart, is going to be a prequel to the critically appreciated and successful 12th Fail. It is scheduled for release on December 13th and all the original cast will return such as Vikrant Massey who played the lead in 12th Fail. The Forgotten Army is a fictional drama film loosely based on Anurag Pathak’s novel about the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma, an impoverished boy who grows up to be an I.P.S. officer.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Approach to Awards
Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra revealed some insights on awards while walking on the IIFA red carpet in the company of a film critic Anupama Chopra. When an audience member asked him if he would submit 12th Fail for an Oscar, “I am not an award fellow; I am here at IIFA thanks to my wife Anupama. In fact, I am only running errands for her on this day. For me the most important thing, the actual award, is when you complete making a film, and watching it yourself, you can say in an exclamation, ‘Yes! That’s it! Or speak in admission, ‘That did not exactly work out’.”
12th Fail: A Story of Resilience and Triumph
The film 12th Fail starring Vikrant Massey and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra has been appreciated for its story illustrating how Manoj Kumar Sharma overcame several challenges to reach the rank of an IPS officer. It is a male-centric film but not only as a hero where he succeeds but also where his wife Shraddha Joshi is among the main factors of his success. Medha Shankar partnered with Massey in the female lead. 12th Fail is available on Disney+ Hotstar now.
