MP Rajkumar Roat of Banswara and his supporters staged a demonstration on June 29 against suggestions made by Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar that the tribal chieftain could undergo a DNA test to prove he was “the son of a Hindu.”
The Bharat Adivasi Party leader and his followers, with their blood samples in their hands, set off towards Mr. Dilawar’s house as part of their protest march but were blocked by police.
Then, they went to Amar Jawan Jyoti in Jaipur where several political leaders among them Ramkesh Meena (Congress MLA from Gangapur) vehemently condemned the minister.
Mr. Roat said if the blood sample wasn’t taken there then he would give it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Parliament. “This matter is not going to be suppressed here. This matter will be raised in the Assembly. I will also raise this issue in front of Modi ji in the Parliament,” the MP told reporters.
He added that if his sample was not taken there, he would give it to Prime Minister Modi in Parliament for a DNA test.
The police collected samples of blood from protestors and later returned them. On June 22nd, an exchange occurred between Mr. Dilawar and newly elected Banswara MP with the latter suggesting that a DNA test should be done so as to ascertain whether or not he is Hindu.
Mr. Roat had recently stated that he is part of a tribal community who do not follow any organized religion including Hinduism which angered Mr. Dilwar who controversially said that “if BAP leader does not consider himself hindu than dna test should confirm whether you are really the son of hindu.”
