Located in Hatteras, Uttar Pradesh, a tragedy has taken place that devastated everyone present. On that day, approximately 121 people died including several women and children. Apparently, more than one hundred thousand devotees gathered to listen to Narayan Sakar Vishwa Hari’s sermons who was also known as Bhole Baba.
This incident occurred due to heavy rain and slippery ground where the stampede took place just after devotees had trooped for blessings from Baba.
It is important that children and women be kept safe in this situation. Here are some guidelines:
Before attending an event with large crowds, teach the children and the females about stampedes’ potential dangers and significance of being together always while following instructions. This brings about a feeling of security by discussing separation plans along with having a meeting point. Brightly colored clothing can be worn by children for easy identification plus. They should have identification on them indicating which person to contact if something happened urgently. They may carry around a whistle or small alarm device intended to alert them during emergencies.
Know everything about the location you have entered into with your team. When you get there crowded such as entrances, exits as well as emergency routes available. Look out for impediments or obstacles, designated crowd control measures plus escape route signs. It is advisable to stay away from congested places and look for quieter areas or open spaces where movement is not restricted.
Stay calm during a stampede giving priority protection to those who are most vulnerable. Because of their ages or health condition etc., if possible adults should hold onto their child tight forming a human chain. So it easier identifying all the members of the family unit quickly through this intervention. Ask your child to keep close by without getting scared like other kids would do under such circumstances. While mothers should avoid carrying any bulky bag which might restrict her movements therefore impeding her ability escape easily. Go towards the edge of crowd or find higher ground less populated with people.
Working mothers should adhere strictly to a schedule: Sunny Leone
Direct children and women away from the crowd, towards an exit or some open space. Where there are fewer people in case of a stampede. Do not move against the flow of the crowd rather move aside to reduce falls or getting stamped on. When one person falls, others must step forward immediately and offer help as well as guide them to a safe place. Keep communicating with each other while bolstering their confidence. So that they understand that being together is paramount during these early responses.
Parents, guardians, and event planners can make stampede situations safer for kids and ladies by putting preparedness, awareness, and quick action first. For this purpose effective communication along with proactive measures is necessary to minimize risk and provide security for everyone involved.
